My arms fixed btw, just needs physio to move it. Its “healed” according to all the criteria the NHS use, which means “the bone is fixed but might be at a funky angle”. I find out in 2 months if it needs surgery..
Meanwhile I can solder and dremel happily, so given that I’ve got time left while I recover I thought I’d complete some of the projects that are sitting in various stages of completion. First up was the old tetris clock, which I’ve given up on now as I’m sure theres a deep wiring problem somewhere on the LED board which is causing annoying ghosting problems. Its getting recycled for parts now..
I picked up Simon Swears the other day and decided to mission through and finish it. Thankfully someone on the arduino forums created a software library for the ISD1700 chips that makes it a piece of piss to interface with it. Before I was bit-banging the SPI pins to control it and getting nowhere slowly..
Its all in the case now and I’ve quickly knocked up some code to flash the LED’s and shout swear words. Its given me some ideas for some instruments based on the ISD chips and random jabbering sounds too
Green laser seems to be dead or dying, it lases but not as brightly as it used to. Thats shot down the plans for using it as a light source for a projector..
Oh and I managed to get some stuff in the Sparkfun Free Day, unlike 99% of people that tried to get through to the site I did and scored myself a free OLED display, LiPoly battery and charging circuit. Also got a replacement MQ-3 alcohol sensor for the Bluetooth Breathalyser I’ve half finished
Travelling wise, I’m about to book flights to Peru with Steve, 7 weeks in Bolivia and Peru. Fuck yeah!
